TheStreet Dance Academy was formed in 2006 in the location of Sandbach and is owned and ran by Julie Harris. The SDA offers a wide range of styles including Street, Breakdance, Waacking, Locking, Popping, House, Hip Hop, commercial and now contemporary dance to all ages, levels and abilities.much more. Julie's belief has always been that dance should be available for everyone and not just for the elite dancer. The Academy prides itself on its professional approach to classes and high standards of teaching. All levels and ages can enjoy our classes whether just for enjoyment and fitness or even to become an advanced and professional dancer.
Our classes are fun and exciting and our students both young and old have a fantastic time dancing with us.
Students can work towards our annual events including the SDA Theatre Show at the Lyceum Theatre in Crewe, our IDTA Medal Tests, the SDA Summer Dance Festival, regular U.D.O. Street Dance Competitions, local and national community events, and the U.D.O. World Street Dance Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.
The Academy has gone from strength to strength with over 400 members now attending regular weekly classes.
The SDA is expanding and we now have many classes also taking place in Holmes Chapel, Middlewich, Sandbach and Crewe.

As the owner and Principal choreorgapher of SDA, Julie still continues to attend workshops, performs and teaches all over the world to further her knowledge and development and to keep her movement fresh! She believes with dance you can never stop learning no matter how old you are, or how long you've been dancing. She has recently returned from a trip in LA and Vegas learning from some masters of movement at Debbie Reynolds and Millennium studios, and jamming with the likes of Crazy Legs, The Rock Steady Crew and a few LXD dancers. She will shortly be traveling again to New York to experience the dance scene there once again training at the world famous Broadway Centre and to Miami where she will be exploring the dance scene their for the first time. Julie believes experience in dance performance makes the best teacher! Throughout her life she has worked in all areas within the industry, from working as part of an agency for commercial jobs, to dancing in videos and on stage. She aims to open up as many opertunitites for the students as possible. Julie currently dances for the professional contemporary dance company Pasgetti under the direction of Maria Blundell-Palethorp which tours UK seasonally. Julie also dances with the Midlands established Hip Hop Crew Dance Nuvo this all girl crew delivers real hip hop workshops and performances around the country and is currently joining members of Plague (World Hip Hop Champions) on a Breathe the Beat Uk tour. Julie’s main passion is to give the young dancers of Cheshire the knowledge she has been blessed with from all these Pioneers of Hip Hop Dance. Julie’s teaches real street styles, and passes on knowledge she has learnt and is still learning from London (especially the London Underground scene), LA, France, New York etc. She makes street attainable to people of all ages, from all cultures, to some it up she teaches truth keeping it real and oh so much fun!!! In addition julie has a Masters Degree in Dance Medicine and Science meaning she knows how the dancers body works, and how to train it safely! So you know that your child, student is gaining the best training it can!
SDA attends regular competitions across the UK with her five amazing Crew's Venture, Inspire, Project R, Defiance and Phantom at the now huge U.D.O. Venues. Venture and Phantom are currently training for and have booked to go to Paris for the UDO European Championships. Julie also puts her students through annual IDTA Medal Tests as she believes this is a great way to build a students confidence. SDA students also dance in annual Show Cases at a professional theatre, and due to having a great reputation they also get invited to dance at local displays fun days and even other dance schools shows and events!
Julie created for the more serious dancer The Company Elite, a semi professional company that train and perform around the UK. This Crew/Company has recently featured on the World known Peridot tour and will also be appearing as a UK supporting act at Breakin Convention this year.
The Academy is always busy with events, exams, comps workshops. Recently BBoy Taps delivered a great Breakin workshop and coming soon is Got To Dance Turbo who will be teaching Hip Hop and House. Julie’s main aim is to create a safe environment to dance that produces confidence, skill and most importantly fun! SDA is a growing family and Julie is so Proud to be leading it!
